Citizen’s Income

Citizen’s Income is financial support for people with low incomes or the unemployed. It serves to cover basic needs such as housing, food, and utilities. The application can be made through the Jobcenter, and our website supports you in all steps of the process.

Child Benefit, Child Supplement

Child Benefit is a monthly payment to support parents in caring for their children. The amount of child benefit depends on the number of children.

Child Supplement is additional financial assistance for families with low incomes to cover the costs of a child.

Parental Benefit

Parental benefit is financial support for parents who reduce or pause their working hours to care for their newborn child. It compensates for loss of income and facilitates the reconciliation of work and family life.

Social Insurance (Health Insurance & More)

Social insurance includes health insurance (Krankenversicherung), unemployment insurance, pension insurance, and long-term care insurance. Health insurance is mandatory for all residents of Germany and guarantees access to medical care.

Housing Benefit

Housing benefit is financial support for tenants with low incomes to cover rental costs. The amount of housing benefit is calculated based on household income and the amount of rent.

Housing Entitlement Certificate (WBS)

The WBS (Wohnberechtigungsschein) entitles people with low incomes to rent social housing at reduced rental prices.

Unemployment Benefit

Unemployment benefit is financial support for the unemployed. There are two types:
Unemployment Benefit II (Citizen’s Income) is for people who are no longer entitled to Unemployment Benefit I.
Unemployment Benefit I is based on previous salary and is paid for a limited time.

Short-Time Work Allowance

Short-time work allowance is a benefit for employees who temporarily work less or are sent on forced leave due to their company’s economic difficulties. It compensates for part of the lost wages and helps to secure jobs.

Sickness Benefit

Sickness benefit is paid to employees who are temporarily unable to work due to illness. It is paid from the sixth week of illness and amounts to approximately 70% of the average income.

Social Assistance

Social assistance is government support for citizens who cannot support themselves and their families for various reasons.

Legal Aid Certificate

A legal aid certificate entitles low-income individuals to free legal advice. This can cover lawyer fees for various legal matters.

Pension
